It's Not Safe and It's Not Okay

“I don't see them anywhere.” Lord Death said from his perch up against the garden wall. It was lower here, you could crouch and peer over it if you pleased, and it provided another view of a courtyard that was down a level. That was the type of city Tsillah was, not just in and around the castle. The architecture was very detailed, very elaborate. It was a beautiful city, I must admit.
“Let me see.” I said, crawling forward to take the Being's place. I looked down, scanning the courtyard and the surrounding corridors. We had moved on ahead, but still had yet to run into Lacey a
We Are All In the Dark

“Leo, what the fuck?” I hissed at the Zodiac, who had just sort of appeared around a corner, knocking a soldier out by whacking him over the head with his lance.
He looked about ready to give me some smartass reply, but he just kind of looked around in wonder when we heard the scream. “If one were in a more normal situation with more normal people you might be worried about that.” He commented.
I had never once before heard Angela scream, and it was startling in a way that I just can't describe. Holy hell.

I was doing my best to keep the Venom magic centered around Liz's wound. I didn't want to try extracting it, because even though I could technically do that, it could cause problems when it came to the wound actually healing properly. It was better left to a healing mage. Nick, in this case.
“Is he still out?” Liz mumbled, referring to Cancer.
“Yeah.” I told her, still keeping my hands hovered over her wound. “He's still there. His wolf, too.” I figured the Zodiac would still be out for a little while longer. Zephyra seemed content to leave us alone if we left her and her per
Here There Be Feelings

I almost jumped when Lacey called my name. “Rafe!” I was too jumpy, and I was waiting for someone to tell me that I should have stayed home. That I wasn't cut out for missions like these. Or most missions, really.
The black haired girl had peeked through the bushes and was gesturing for me to follow her. The train ride to Tsillah had been long and slow. Or it had felt that way, anyway. The lot of us were maneuvering our way about the city, trying to get further into the castle. At the moment we were sneaking about in the castle's extensive gardens.
I shoved my way through the bushes, keeping low,

Matt would later tell me, in a kind of quiet voice, that I'd just looked on in abject astonishment and horror as he caught Libra in his arms and the guards surrounded us.
The whole thing was a bit of a blur. I only had a few glimpses of memories concerning what happened immediately after, and it pretty much just involved the guards questioning us and Matt answering in a low, almost apathetic tone, saying something about how we'd confronted the Zodiac and he'd had to knock her out to keep her from attacking us and/or running off.
Looking back on it now, though, I'm pretty sure I hadn't looked openly ho
What We May Regret

Cancer stiffened at my voice, hearing it despite the wolf's howling. He stood up and turned to face me, just as his familiar's baleful song stopped. I had my swallow pointed at him, ready to fight.
I glanced behind the blond to see Liz sprawled out on the floor. She had a big, obvious wound right in the center of her stomach. It was bleeding pretty badly, but given our immortality we could usually stand an injury like that, at least long enough for it to be healed before passing out. But this guy was also a Venom mage, I could tell. Not just because of the drops of toxic poison strewn around, but because I was Env

I wondered if it was just me who thought that the Beings seemed...unapproachable. I mean, they were nice enough, I guess, but I just couldn't bring myself to go talk to any of them. The only one I'd really exchanged words with was Lord Envy, and he'd been the one to start that conversation.
Leo was steering the skyship, the Flying Ferret, that we'd elected to take to Eira Seren with Lady Wrath standing next to him, watching as he and Lord Life argued about something. Though it was more like Lord Life was the only one arguing. Leo was just standing there, nodding and replying in his usual cheery tone. Lord Life

The way things ended up going left me and the rest of Team Exalciar taking the Lightning Falcon to the aforementioned city. Team Eira Seren borrowed some other skyship for their travels. (They couldn't take the Ultima Vox Celebris because it wasn't back yet and Damian said that it was way too notorious to ride it straight into a city directly controlled by our enemies.) Pisces and Aquarius arranged for Team Tsillah to take trains to the capital.
We were passing over Lake Erux at the moment, Damian at the wheel of the ship. Everybody was lounging around the deck, watching the water below get li

I'd been bunking with Liz and Crissy, and I was quite content. Until Leo came banging on our door at four in the morning.
We dragged ourselves out of bed, not particularly wanting to get up. But we did anyway. As soon as we stepped out into the hall Liz mumbled something about how she had something she wanted to talk to Damian about, so that left Crissy and I strolling toward the dining hall.
"You think she's okay?" I asked Crissy, referring to Liz.
She cast me a sideways glance. "Something's bugging her. I get the feeling Damian's not telling her something." I nodded. This was what I thought too

It wasn't until we were really close to Kysse that I noticed it was covered in snow. Lacey said that this was normal here, especially since we were up on the northernmost bit of the country.
Damian ended up giving the wheel to Lacey so he could haul all of us over to the rails. He said there was nothing like seeing Kysse from the air, and he was right. The city was amazing, with massive buildings stacked next to each other, streets crowded with people that I could see even from so high up. Off the top of my head the only city I could think of back on Vionggyrh that was even rem
